So, next I tried this--Presley actually at the dinner table in a booster seat. I cannot tell you how good she was! She was so proud to be 'with' mommy and daddy on her own chair. Presley was even better a few nights later when her grandparents and aunt and uncle came up for dinner (I think she was starving and that helped to focus her energy on the actual eating). Not that we do this all the time now, but I think this is a step in the right direction! Here are the photos from the first experiment.

I grew up in a family that had dinner together nearly every single night. I have always wanted to follow that tradition but over the years Chris and I had simply developed different eating times/schedules. Usually it was a night out that brought the two of us together for a meal or a relaxed Sunday dinner. I am trying, now that I have a family, to get back on track and have family dinners together. It is tough! I feel successful if I can get it/us all together for a real, sit-down (nothing fancy) dinner together twice a week. We just all have such varying schedules--we really need to sit down and MAKE this work!
My friend Kimber posed some additional questions that inspired this post (and got me thinking in general) . . . though there is a lot more to raising a family than family dinner--this is a good start for us.

Oh! She's SO big! Can't wait to see you all!!!!
I bet she thinks she's pretty hot stuff to get to sit by mom and dad. This is great news, you'll be able to go to restaurants without too much embarrassment. We still can't seem to do that. Way too much work.
We're at about the same stage you are. Having family dinner several times a week but it's hard for me to muster up the ideas for a full blown sit down meal all of the time. I'm trying to do better.
Wow! Go Pressley! And I think family dinnertime is great. I grew up doing that most of the time too. Although usually my dad was at work but at least the rest of us ate together. Way to go on starting that!
She is SO cute! Love that hair! Eating together is SO fun! I miss it when we are too busy! It really does build a bond!
